Life goes on

Back in the hood, Carter and Sharlene have both been working their adult jobs well into their elderhood. Carter reached the top of the Entertainment career and had several vacation days saved up. I let him stay home from work to collect on those days and then he retired. His salary is quite depressing now compared to what it was when he was working full-time, but on the other hand he is learning the metallurgy craft and is making robots left and right.

In the meantime, all the babies have grown into toddlers. Alessa and Elijah (Eddie's kiddoes) have spent a good amount of time skilling and by the end of their second day as toddlers had all but maxed out their mechanical skill, learned to walk, talk, potty and had been taught a nursery rhyme. Both have been in platinum pretty much continuously, as well, which has helped them fill out the needs section of their aspiration benefits screen.

Eddie has worked his way up the ladder in the Intelligence career and is only one promotion away from fulfilling his LTW of becoming SCIA. When he isn't working, he spends much of his time in his garden where all his plants are thriving, or fishing. If you recall I am trying to have them grow enough food to be self sufficient and it seems to be working - after the last harvest, Eddie stocked the fridge. It has a capacity of 400 but had 971 in fresh food. I think they'll eat just fine for a while! Garden grown food is great b/c even with mac and cheese you don't have to eat the whole bowl to get full. I have the save leftovers so they rarely cook anymore. 1 cooked meal will serve them a couple of days at least!

Jade is still in the Intelligence career, as well, even though her LTW is to become the Hand of Poseidon. I can't for the life of me get an Oceanography position to open up. Those sharks need to hurry up and eat somebody so Jade can get a job! She still isn't maxed on her skills (I feel like I'm slacking with her) so when she has off time from work she spends it with a thinking cap and skilling.

I think that even though little Elijah will inherit the house and carry on the Uglacy name, Alessa is the one that has been (fortunate enough?) given the no-so-pretty looks of the family. She inherited her mothers wide mouth and heavy brows. I'm anxious to see if Eddie's wide jaw and cheeks make an appearance.

One night while working on her logic skills, the most unexpected thing happened - Jade was abducted by aliens! (actually not so unexpected since she was summoning them - just thought it sounded good to write it that way :) ) She was quite thrilled at the prospect of meeting extra-terrestrial life and can talk and think about little else now.

Finally, I haven't mentioned Sharlene, but she is trudging on. I don't remember if I mentioned in the last update, but she filled her aspiration meter and is now perma plat with all aspiration benefits. In her spare time she still works on skills for her job in the Science field (she's now an Inventor) and when she gets the necessary skills she is learning how to sew. I was inspired by Magnus' thread on the Yahoo group about the things he does with his elders, so I am going to try to follow his lead and make my elders productive citizens instead of the couch potatoes I usually have. I'm trying to have Carter and Sharlene do crafts and work on badges. Hopefully I'll be able to get my first Servo (without cheating). Even though I'm not a big fan of Servos, I may let them have one activated in Carter's house. It might be neat to have a Servo that served Carter and his great-great-great grandson :).

In Marcel's house, the twins have grown up to toddler, then child. Don't ask me how that happened before Eddie's kids grew up. I don't think I played them too long, but who knows. Sometimes I get so involved with what they are doing a whole extra few days have gone by. Plus, I'm playing by seasons this time instead of a week at a time and that is confusing me a little. Anyway, they grew to kids and are still skilling. Sadie and Cyd had twins as well- Bob and Bobbette (I let my husband pick names) are being praised for staying off sim beds and scoled when they pee in the floor. Marcel is spending a good amount of time teach Sadie and Cyd tricks and will continue with the pups. I hope they bring a pretty penny - since Marcel wants 6 kids, it will take every little dollar they can scrape up to remodel their small home. Melody & Harmony are sharing a bedroom for now. If they have more twins (which they are b/c Margaret is pregnant again) I guess I'll have to add a level to the house.

That's it for now. Keep your fingers crossed for me - I seem to be on a roll with this 'hood!
